I will give an introduction and general overview of the behavior of the Kaehler-Ricci flow on compact Kaehler surfaces. I will also describe some open problems and discuss non-Kaehler complex surfaces. This mini-course is aimed at a graduate students. No knowledge of Kaehler geometry or the Kaehler-Ricci flow will be assumed.
