A representative from Wolfram Research:  Michael Kelly will be discussing Computational Finance with Mathematica.Abstract: Computational methods have played a significant role in the development of modern finance. Since the appearance of the Black-Scholes option pricing model it has become apparent that many options do not lend themselves to analytical results and that instead it has become necessary to use computational methods such as binomial and trinomial trees, numerical integration and Monte Carlo simulation to estimate the behavior of financial derivatives. Mathematica is a high level symbolic/numeric functional programming language which can determine the mathematical and numerical evaluation of such complex instruments. This seminar will give a brief outline of the Mathematica syntax and show how it is possible to treat a wide range of financial instruments such as bonds, annuities, cashflows, derivatives, technical indicators, trading charts and financial data within one comprehensive framework.
